2003 has brought many new changes… Southern Hemisphere apologises for not having periodically kept updated the Newsletter, and provides you with this brand new Newsletter, with the promise that, from now on, the Newsletter will be regularly updated every three months.
We would like to open this newsletter with brief announcements and events, which have marked positive important changes in Southern Hemisphere.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
First of all, we would like to congratulate Dena, our managing director. Dena is the new mom of a beautiful baby boy. CONGRATULATIONS DENA!!!
We would like to say goodbye to Debbie. Debbie has worked as an administrator with Southern Hemisphere for a little over a year. Bye Debbie and good luck for your new career!!!
Southern Hemisphere would like to welcome Toni! Toni Murphy is the new permanent administrator/Marketing Co-ordinator. We are looking forward in working with you Toni! Welcome!
Last, but not least we would like to welcome our two new interns. Giorgia Varisco, who joined the Cape Town team, and Helena Forescapi, who joined the Puerto Rico team! Welcome both of you! We hope that you will both have a positive learning experience with us, here at Southern Hemisphere.

Monitoring and Evaluation Workshop (November 2002)
This particular workshop was extremely successful. Many international participants decided to attend this workshop, in fact, among others, we had participants coming from Zimbabwe, Malawi and Namibia.

2003 has proven to be an extremely successful year for our M&E Workshops. We can definitely say that we have broadened our horizons…worldwide. In fact, our M&E trainings and workshops, not only are attended by both south African nationals and international professional, who will hopefully apply their skills learned in different projects which will aim in improving social conditions world wide.
But, we can proudly say, that Southern Hemisphere South Africa and Southern Hemisphere Puerto Rico are simultaneously conducting M&E Trainings.

PROJECTS UPDATE
Impact Evaluation of the Offender Reintegration Programme of NICRO/ Working for Water and the Department of Social Development.
This project is now finally completed. The reports have been submitted to the client. Watch the space for the major findings of this impact evaluation. Dena Lomofsky attended a Symposium to present the finding of this specific project.
The Symposium was on August the 19th, and Dena has discussed the impact of the program of the life of the ex-offenders.
NEW PROJECTS
Southern Hemisphere is currently busy working on a new Project for the South African Department of Labour. Project “Innovate”, is the name, and its purpose is investigating successful and innovative implementation of the Skills Development Act in South African Companies. Watch the space for the major findings of “Project Innovate”.
Southern Hemisphere is currently busy working on a new project or Soul City. We are evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the Soul City and Old Mutual trainings in HIV/AIDS awareness, care and anti-discrimination in all the nine South African regions.
