Because Southern Hemisphere is committed to skills development as part of their social responsibility, we are always eager to assist innovative minds in building their capacities in the social development field.
We would like to welcome Bukiwe Dangazele, our new intern/project management learner to our team. Bukiwe is in the process of completing her Project Management Learnership with the Services Seta. She has a background in Social Sciences, majoring in Industrial Sociology, & has worked for organisations such as Africa Institute for Policy Analysis & Economic Integration (AIPAI), New Labour Initiatives, Department of Education & Department of Social Development. Bukiwe has experience in the fields of Community Development, Research & Project Management.
We also urge all post graduate students who are interested in getting some exposure to the social development field, to apply for our Winter Internship Programme starting in May 2005. Please read more on how to apply in our “Internship Corner”.
As mentioned in our previous newsletter, Anette Ivsett (our intern from Norway) completed her internship in December and is now back home where she is completing her MA theses in Peace and Development Studies. We asked her of her experiences with us, this is what she had to say:
“My time with Southern Hemisphere was a great learning experience. It gave me the chance to actively participate in work at all levels. I got the chance to develop new skills, but also improve the ones I already had. These skills will be very useful for work in international development projects. My experience at SHC gave me the opportunity to work with both local and national government in addition to NGOs. The internship gave me a great perspective on how governments work. During my time at SHC I was also given the chance to participate at several very interesting seminars and conferences. I would like to thank my co-workers at SHC for all their help and teaching through the time that I was there.”
